while renting a cabin at lake wateree with the squadron, we went to the playground with the Frank kids. emmalyn went down the slide fast and estelle was standing at the bottom. when emmalyn reached the bottom, estelle yelled, "nailed it!" sooooo funny.

brant's deployed and estelle was jamming all of this stuff into her backpack...so I asked her what she was up to....she said, “mom, leave it! i’m going on a trip with daddy!”
lela and estelle went to trunk or treat with croftons tonight. lela hurt her knee. she wouldn’t stop wallowing..estelle (eating a plain bowl of rice in her evening gown) said, “lela, it’s a hard knock life.”

me: “estelle, you can leave your sunglasses here today...it’s not really sunny.”
e: “they’re just for fashion.”

driving estelle to school we drove by someone burning old wood in a field. she noticed and said, “look, they’re burning wood from when jesus was born! sheesh, that’s probably wood from the early 80s or 90s.”

i was just telling my friends how i didn't like to play crud because i'm not aggressive or competitive. lela was not at that conversation, but that next evening she said to me, "mom, you know why i don't like to play sports?" i said, "you don't?!! why?" she said, "i'm just too gentle. i don't want to take anything from anyone or hurt anyone." i couldn't stop smiling....like mother, like daughter!
